Couple's Culturally Diverse Marriage

The main point of this media article was to elaborate on the interracial marriage from a personal point of view but it does bring up some crucial points about individual experiences with diversity (which in turn make up the societal ideologies surrounding this topic). The article mentions the stark contrasts and conflicts that arose between Ron Bauer’s Jewish background and Queta Rodriguez’s Mexican heritage. The author touches on the hesitance of both sets of in-laws regarding Ron and Queta’s marriage and the resulting rich multi-cultural upbringing that their daughters would have. I think that despite the personal, small-scale nature of this article, it captures a real-life snap-shot of the acceptance of diversity. Many people today focus on the conflicts and problems that stem from diversity. They should; the issue of diversity is a very real, very pressing issue. However, being so intensely absorbed by the negative outcomes of interpersonal differences, we tend to miss out on the positive outcomes that arise despite it all.
